Nitro Swimmer of the Week for July 13th – 18th, 2015

Intro to Nitro

Cedar Park: Mahit Tadepalli – Mahit has been doing an excellent job in Intro practices lately! He really stood out this week in our endurance sets, swimming great 50’s of each stroke! Keep up the good work, Mahit! – Coach Jessie

Bee Cave: Wendi Zhang – Wendi has come so far over the past couple weeks. I know that some days the practices are really hard for her, but she keeps a smile on and does her best. Very proud of how she has developed in such a short time. WELL DONE and KEEP IT UP! – Coach Sarah

Bronze

Cedar Park: Liam McGowan – Liam had a great week of practices and finished it on high note at the Jammin’ Invite meet this past weekend! He improved on all of his races and got a couple compliments from coaches on a great attitude and having fun! Way to go Liam! – Coach Jeremy

Bee Cave: Brynn Keever – Brynn had an outstanding week in the pool this week. Our focus this week was fine tuning our racing. Brynn took full advantage of every single push off and dive races. It came to no surprise that she had a great meet this past weekend at the Nitro Jammin Meet. Keep up the great work Brynn! – Coach Adrian

Technique & Fitness

Cedar Park: Maitreyi Dhavala & Bryan Simmons – Maitreyi has really been making great strides with her technique especially her freestyle.  Her head position and breathing are in the correct position and her reach has a great extension.  On top of that she is swimming an additional four hours with our summer rec program.  Whew!  Bryan really impressed us with his sprints for time this past week.  He dropped time in all of his swims and his enthusiasm really showed.  He’s nailing his dives as well.  Great job you two thanks for being a part of NITRO and we’ll see you at the pool. –Coach Stephen

Bee Cave: Willa Royder – Willa continuously shows an eagerness to swim and improve. Whatever the set is, she never complains and is one of the leaders of the TF group. I’m excited to see where her work ethic takes her not just in swimming but in life! – Coach Peter

Silver

Cedar Park: Aparna Majety – Aparna puts the work in that is for sure! She is always one to hop lanes or lead a lane when needed. She also does a wonderful job of taking a step back and thinking about her strokes when I ask her to “think about what she is doing” during practice. Aparna has come a long way since the first time I worked with her, and she is continuing to improve throughout the summer and long course season. She had a wonderful meet this past weekend and showed what hard work does! –Coach Allison

Bee Cave: Patton Taylor – Patton had a great meet this weekend, but more important was how hard she trained, understanding that meets are just little quizzes you take along the way, every now and the you get a question wrong, but we learn and when the final exam comes up you will be ready. Patton had a great 50 free, big kick, strong arms, controlled breathing, all round great swim, she was a little disappointed in the two backstroke swim, where she added a little time, but given how hard she trained this week it was a good showing. Take a page out of Maddie Ibrahim’s swim on Saturday, missing her cut in the last meet just made her more determined and we saw the breakthrough swim. Patton I know the next meet will be better still. Keep up the great work! – Coach Chuck

Advanced Silver

Cedar Park: Halley Terrell – Halley is fairly new to the group, but she’s already making waves in AS.  She has a great feel for the water and is all ears at practice.  Halley knows that her main growth will be with her endurance and she’s been willing to give it her all at practice to increase it.  She participated in the meet on Saturday, and while Halley is one of the nicest kids behind the blocks, she’s definitely mean in her races.  We can’t wait to see what you’re going to achieve this coming season, Halley! –Coach Alex

Bee Cave: Avery Frey – Avery this past week you came decided to give the best of you, making the difference in every stroke every time you hit the water. Since you were in Silver, I knew you have the secret talent and the big desire to continue with the journey that is going to take you all the way to the top in each one of your goals. The sky is the limit Avery..keep it up buddy! FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS!!! SI SI SI!!! – Coach Felix

Gold

Cedar Park: Alex Hoang – He has been a consistently putting in the work during practice that we have come to expect of him. Even if the set not something he would consider himself strong in he gives his all to do the best the he can. He capped off the week with a fantastic performance at the swim meet on Saturday going best times in all of his events. Congratulations and keep up the great work. – Coach Travis

Bee Cave: Brendan Burt & Kira Baker – Two young swimmers who had great swims this past weekend, Brendan and I have had countless discussions about how he is an IMer, not just a Br____…, I try not to use the B word around him, he is so much more and the 13 second time drop in his 100 fly was proof! Yes he still needs work on the fly kick but so does every swimmer. Brendan is starting to believe and the IM will show him the way, 400 IM this fall young man, Great Work! Kira had a great meet as well, her 200 free was the strongest coach Adrian and I have ever seen her swim, it is so hard to turn 11 and face the truth that 200s are your future like it or not, Kira has stepped up her training and the results are starting to show in a new confidence she has when she races! The 200 free was strong start to finish, coaches with smiles tells the tale! We are looking forward to the other longer races young lady, Great Job! –Coach Chuck & Coach Adrian
