Nitro Swimmer of the Month for December 2015

Cedar Park

High School Training: Robby Graves – Robby is relatively new to High School Training, but his presence is sure known. He is the kind of swimmer that doesn’t take sets off, but aims to get the best out of every single one. On top of that, It’s a rare thing to catch him frowning – whether it’s before, during, or after practice. With such a positive energy flowing into the group, a passionate drive that pushes when others aim to relax, Robby quickly has become a key part of High School Training. I can only expect bigger and better things from him, and all those around. Thanks for your commitment and spirit Robby! – Coach Nick

TAGS 2: Rylee Worley – This month she has jumped up to being one the consistent leaders within the group. She started this month off with an amazing performance at COR with 100% huge best times at the meet. She carried that right over into her holiday training, making changes and trying to out work everyone. I am very excited to see all her hard work pay off at the next couple swim meets. Congratulations and keep up the great work. – Coach Travis

TAGS 1: Clayton Meyer – Clayton had a fantastic two weeks of training through this Holiday Training session, picking up his aggressiveness through training and challenging his fellow swimmers. He did this after having a pretty good Winter Wonderland meet were he finally broke a minute for the first time in the 100 Fly. Big step taken and then he his working himself to the bone during Holiday Training looking forward to what the next few months and the rest of this Short Course season holds for Clayton. – Coach Flo

Sectional Development: Anuj Maniyar – Anuj has had a great month in December. He has continued to push himself in and out of the pool. He has improved and made changes in all four strokes and has been eager to listen and work hard at practice! The two previous meets he has had great swims and time drops along the way. Keep up the hard work! – Coach Jeremy

National Development: Gregory Raper – Greg had a very strong month of December.  At COR, Greg swam lifetime bests nearly every single race.  He then came back from the meet and committed himself to improving on all areas, especially his weaknesses.  Over winter training, Greg really stepped up his performance in practice by committing to the changes and keeping a positive mindset. – Coach Elliott

Bee Cave

Middle School & High School Training: Max Hodsden & Amelia Jochem – Max is easily one of the most polite swimmers I’ve ever had the pleasure of coaching. He recently came to me with his swimming goals for the year. It was great to see Max set goals for himself and be so motivated to improve as a swimmer. I know Coach Randy, Coach Lianne, and I are going to do everything we can to help Max reach his goals. Amelia is an extremely hard worker but flies under the radar much of the time. She has a great work ethic and is always trying to improve as a swimmer. She’s one of the swimmers that make our MS/HS Training group so great! As Westlake alumni, I’m also proud to say Amelia is a fellow Chap! Great job, Max and Amelia! – Coach Peter

TAGS 2: Deuce Harbour – What a great month for TAGS 2, from meet in Dallas and San Antonio, to Holiday training and Heck Week 2015. I told the group we needed the positivity and a leader throughout the month of December. Deuce has been a constant source of jokes, positivity, and sarcasm to get all of through a very difficult month, both mentally and physically. I’m proud to say I’m your coach Deuce, keep it up. – Coach Allison

TAGS 1: Julia York & CJ Suarez – Julia has near perfect practice attendance, as well as shows drive, determination and focus at each practice.  Julia was a new TAGS qualifier in the 200 Breast at the December COR meet in the 200 Breast and should be very soon in her 100 Breast, now within a second away from her cut time in that too.  She is also a great IM swimmer. Julia is an excellent teammate to her training partners and was present at all winter break training sessions.  Keep up the good work Julia! CJ Suarez has just recently aged up to the 13-14 Boys division.  He is a butterfly specialist, but has recently shown much promise in his IM events as well.  CJ has excellent work ethic, and always shows attention to detail in his training.  His attendance is also impeccable.  CJ made most all of the Holiday break workouts. He has had major improvements in his training efforts and the order in which he trains in his lane since his recent age up.  I am excited to see what his 13-14 years will bring him in swimming. Keep it up CJ Suarez! – Coach Randy

Senior:

National Development: Michael Smith & Katie Tuohy – Michael and Katie both had great months of training and really took huge steps during our holiday training.  Michael has really stepped up as a true leader of the group with his dedication to training and his tremendous work ethic. I know that I can count on Michael to set a positive example for the group and to lead through his actions.  He is always looking for ways to improve and he truly gives his all day in and day out.  Katie gives everything she has at each practice. She looks at each day as an opportunity to build off of what she did the day before.  She has a tremendous work ethic and is fully committed to her training.  Congratulations to the both of you on a fantastic end to 2015 and for raising the standard for the group during holiday training. I am excited to see how you continue to progress in 2016! – Coach Jason
