Swimmers of the Week for August 13th – 18th, 2012:
Intro to Nitro
Cedar Park:Kianna Kapa– Kianna loves swimming and helping her teammates out whenever possible. While learning intervals this week Kianna asked questions to help herself and the group better understand the set. She has been getting stronger and smarter each practice! Way to go Kianna!
Bee Cave:Armon Hadjimani– Armon has shown a great tenacious spirit, proving time and time again that he loves to learn and genuinely wants to get better. Armon is very good at actively listening, by taking my instructions and putting it into action in the water. He is constantly working hard and doing his best. He is a good team mate watching out for others in the water. Armon demonstrates all the attributes of the ideal Nitro Swimmer of the week. Keep up the great work Armon!
Bronze
Cedar Park: Anoushka Narayan– Anoushka has done a fantastic job this past week, really working hard on her butterfly and making it look beautiful. Anoushka is a joy to have at practice because she is always ready with the correct answer and super smile. Keep up the great work and the great smile!
Bee Cave:Kylie VanderMeer– I can always count on Kylie to give me a great big smile when I see her on deck. She is energetic and shows everybody how much she wants to be here through her attitude and actions. She listens well to the coaches, is kind to her teammates and works hard in the water. Kylie, keep up the great work!
Technique and Fitness
Cedar Park:Anjana Ramachandra & Arsh Gamare – Anjana has definitely picked up her game, this past week. We are noticing her endurance is building up, and her stroke technique looks fantastic. Arsh is diving! He showed us this past week, how to enter the water hands first. Looks great. Great job you two, thanks for being a part of NITRO, and we’ll see you at the pool.
Bee Cave:Hayden Stevens– Hayden recently rejoined us in a quest to make his high school swim team. I have been working with him on his speed and endurance training. This week he conquered two massive test sets to really bring a lot of fire in his eyes. This just further shows that if you want something, go out and get it. Keep up the great work!!!
Silver
Cedar Park:Sarah Waters– Sarah has done a great job over the last week improving her swimming and making a great effort to get her swimming at a high level. Keep up the great work Sarah, and look forward to seeing what will become of the effort she’s put into her swimming.
Bee Cave: Shampurna Mitra–Over recent weeks Shampurna has reached another level of her training. She has shown a new focus and drive to improve not only her strokes and technique but also her knowledge in the sport of swimming. Her attentiveness to direction and hard work has clearly come out in her swimming and she is having fun in the process! Congratulations and keep up the good work Shampurna!
Advanced Silver
Cedar Park:Declan Shearman– He’s risen to the challenge on a number of the sets that we have done this week, and is getting excited to make the jump to Gold. Great job Declan!
Bee Cave:Eric Li– Eric has only been with us a short time but he has impressed me already. He displays all the elements that make a good Adv. Silver swimmer. He listens well, accepts stroke correction and puts effort into the goal of the set(not just in going fast). Further, his attitude shows just how much he wants to be here and as a result makes the workout that much better for the people around him. Keep up the great work Eric!
Gold
Cedar Park:David Dunsworth – David did an excellent job this past week, leading his lane, working on his technique, and most noticeably, having a great attitude with the group. High energy level was very noticeable. Great job David, thanks for being a part of NITRO, and we’ll see you at the pool.
Bee Cave:Jake Hansen– Jake returned from a nice vacation. He has been working non stop to get his legs back. With every challenge that has been thrown at him, he has come out on top! He is gaining his power stroke back day by day. We’re all so proud of you Jake! Keep up the great work.
