Nitro Swimmer of the Week for October 5th – 10th, 2015

Intro to Nitro

Cedar Park: Kylie Snell & Champ Mayo – I’ve had the pleasure of being able to work with all of Cedar Park’s Intro to Nitro groups over the last couple of weeks. I am excited as ever for the future of Nitro! Across every lane in every group I’ve seen a ton of great things. Several kiddos have stood out and I’ve happened to select only two for the sake of keeping this note reasonable! Kylie has been with us now for over a year, and her growth in the sport and pool has been amazing! She is called upon to demonstrate quite a lot, and she is happy to help every time. Champ is a standout as well. Getting stronger in the water, always willing to lend a hand in practice and is a joy to be around. Congratulations to Kylie and Champ. – Coach Mike

Bee Cave: Brielle Boday – Brielle did an excellent job this week in practice. She is competitive with herself and likes to do her best. It is fun to watch as Brielle improves as well as races. She did a great job racing this past weekend. She may be little, but she has a big spirit! Keep in up Brielle! – Coach Sarah

Bronze

Cedar Park: Diego Manzanilla – Diego has been showing his hard-working side since I began coaching the group in September. He is a leader in his group, listens well when the coaches have something for him to fix, and demonstrates great techniques in the pool. Diego Always comes to practice with a smile and is always eager to improve. Keep up the great work Diego! – Coach Adam

Bee Cave: Cynthia Cui – Cynthia has done a great job of locking down her stroke count for her backstroke turns, the kick going into the wall is a strength, but the best part is watching the streamline underwater fly kicking! She has a fast snappy kick that is something the whole group can take note. Great Job young lady! – Coach Chuck

Technique & Fitness

Cedar Park: Carolina  Suhre & Rod Alcos – Carolina and Rod really rocked it at the meet this past week. Carolina had a great “It’s  show time!” attitude. Nice job on the 100 IM. A shout out also to Carolina for volunteering to dive into the pool TWICE to stop some swimmers during their events. Rod really impressed us with his butterfly. Great clearance with the arms over the water and lots of energy in his start and finish of his events. Great job you two thanks for being a part of NITRO and we’ll see you at the pool.  – Coach Steve

Bee Cave: Kate Kadyan – Kate has done a fantastic job so far during her time at Nitro. She is an extremely hard worker and she has greatly improved every stroke. She also brings a great positive energy to the group. I’m excited to see her continue to improve her swimming! Well deserved, Kate! – Coach Peter

Silver

Cedar Park: Kaitlyn Farris – Two things I can always count on with Kaitlyn – She is going to give it 110%, and she is going to do it with a smile!  Now most weeks are solid weeks for Kaitlyn, but recently during a quick set working some underwaters, she took it upon herself to continually kick out all the way across the pool. This not only made her better, but helped nudge those around whose minds were filled with “I don’t think I cans”, to give it a try – and an overwhelming number made it! Very impressive, and exciting to see. Being positive, helping the team, and having a tenacious work ethic, are all qualities of the kind of swimmers/leaders we want in silver, and are all qualities I continually see emerging from Kaitlyn. Keep up the great work. – Coach Nick

Bee Cave: Keean Dailey – Great week for Keean, turns and underwaters have been a focus, and after Keean viewed a video of one of his turns the adjustments he made were spectacular, Coach Peter and I were very impressed! When working with swimmers you make mental notes of when you see a swimmer step outside the box and become the swimmer you know they can be, Keean’s new turn is the game changer, I can’t wait to see his next meet swims. Great Job young man. – Coach Chuck

Advanced Silver

Cedar Park: David Homilier – Congrats to David!  David is a very consistent trainer.  He’s always listening, paying attention, and willing to put in the extra mile.  Whether it’s learning how to use equipment, remembering a set, or trying out new skills, I can always count on David to be focused on the task at hand.  Keep working hard, David! – Coach Alex

Bee Cave: Ashley Monshaugen – Swimmers of the week are the ones that break the habits and schemes in every stroke. You Ashley, you did it this week and especially in the 20×50 main set on Thursday night. EXCELLENT job! Everyday is pay day. Keep it up Ashley! FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS..SI SI SI!!!! – Coach Felix

Gold

Cedar Park: Adam Micek – Adam made some BIG changes in his freestyle this week! I have been impressed with his leadership and hard work to make changes and getting better at his weaknesses! Way to go ADAM! – Coach Jeremy

Bee Cave: Alex Williamson – Alex made the jump into Gold group a few weeks ago, and has since then done a wonderful job of stepping it up each day. My favorite part of coaching Alex is his dedication to doing things right. His underwaters are wonderful, and he has pushed his team mates to become better as well. I even noticed how he has become much more comfortable with the kids in the group, and he isn’t afraid to lead a lane or demonstrate how a drill is done. Way to go Alex! – Coach Allison
