Nitro Swimmer of the Week for June 22nd – 27th, 2015

Intro to Nitro

Cedar Park: Luis Castellanos Lopez – Luis is swimmer of the week because he has been demonstrating 100% effort at every practice lately! We talked recently specific goals he needs to work on, and the coaches have watched him embrace those changes! He’s improving every practice! Great dedication, Luis! Keep up the good work! – Coach Jessie

Bee Cave: Katherine Cui – Katherine is one our youngest swimmers but also, one of our strongest swimmers as well. We always see Katherine coming in to the pool with a smile that goes from ear to ear. Katherine works hard and with a smile! Great job Katherine!! – Coach Sam

Bronze

Cedar Park: Desi Delgado – Desi has been working really hard at changing her butterfly and had a very successful week last week. She has the airplane arms coming out of the water and her rhythm is improving. Desi always asks questions and is eager to learn and get better! Keep it up Desi! – Coach Jeremy

Bee Cave: Skyler Poustovoi & Jake Mayer – Skyler always comes in with a positive attitude, ready to listen. Skyler is quiet so it can be hard to find her until she gets in the pool and gets the job done and says thank you when she leaves. Skyler is a fantastic swimmer and a joy to have on the team! Great job Skyler!! Jake is a wonderful racer. This past week Jake really focused on what he was doing in the water. I have really admired his progress that he is making. He is starting to realize that sometimes you need to take a step back to make a leap forward. Specifically, Jake’s kick is becoming one of his strengths. Keep up the great work Jake! – Coach Sam & Coach Adrian

Technique & Fitness

Cedar Park: Hannah  Anthony  & Victor Guardado – Hannah has worked her tail off wanting to make it to the High School Training group. She did it!! Now she’s moving with her family away from Cedar Park. We wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors and want her to know that the last week at NITRO has been spectacular with her small foot injury. Victor is that swimmer that is a great constant presence at the pool. Always on time, always willing to work, always with a willing attitude, always smiling and this past week ALWAYS nailing his streamlines. Great job you two thanks for being a part of NITRO and we’ll see you at the pool. Hannah keep in touch. You have swum with NITRO for some time and it’s been a blast to watch you over the years. We love you at NITRO. – Coach Steve

Bee Cave: Max Taraszewski & Patty Alfonso – These kids bring a great balance of fun and hard work to TF. You can tell they enjoy being at Nitro and are very eager to learn. They are a perfect example of the great kids you’ll find in the TF group! – Coach Peter

Silver

Cedar Park: Kyle Le – Kyle’s attendance is spot on. He is an impeccable kicker, and everyday at practice proves that he is getting stronger and stronger. Within the short two months Kyle’s work ethic is amazing, he has shown that he is ready to learn and working towards improving every part of his stroke. Kyle has really begun to focus on his underwaters and has been able to take his underwaters from 4-5, to 6-7 off of each wall. Continue focusing on your swimming Kyle, and good things are to come! – Coach Allison

Bee Cave: Adriana Klaas – This has been a great training week for Adriana, the IM training has really paid off, when you start holding all your 100 IMs under 1:40 it’s time for you to see Coach Felix in Advanced Silver! Her turns never looked better and the intensity is what I look for in a Gold Swimmer, Great Job young Lady!! – Coach Chuck

Advanced Silver

Cedar Park: Julian Yung – Great job to Julian Yung!  Julian hasn’t swum the 100 back for awhile, so he didn’t yet have a BB cut.  He wanted to swim it in the BB meet over the weekend so we talked about it.  If he didn’t make the BB cut, there would be a $50 fine that he would have to pay—not his parents, not his coaches, but Julian himself.  Julian not only made this cut, but he cleared it by over three and a half seconds!  Great job stepping up, J! – Coach Alex

Bee Cave: Ben Adams – Ben, you couldn’t close the week in a better way. This week comes to an end with a tremendous swim in the 50 Backstroke, closing with a solid 42.67 (‘A’ time) and earned you the spot for the South Texas Age Group Championship (STAGS). This great CONFIDENCE that you’re showing us is gonna take you far in this journey. Keep it up Benjamin…FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS!!! SI SI SI!!! – Coach Felix

Gold

Cedar Park: Kelson Flynn – Congratulations to Kelson for his first ever TAGS cut in the 100 Backstroke at this weekends Texas Open. Very proud of his accomplishments and look forward to him kicking butt at STAGS and TAGS!!! – Coach Travis

Bee Cave: John Singletary – Every time John swam this weekend he dropped time, it was a long weekend, 200 butterfly,200 back, 200 IM , 200 free, 400 IM, 400 free, and we’re not talking 1 second here or there, 23 seconds in the 400 free, 8 seconds in the 200 fly, 15 seconds in the 200 IM, 13 seconds in the 200 free, the smallest drop came in the 200 back, just under 7 seconds, and to end it all a 9 second drop in his 400 IM on Sunday, got me tired just typing all this on my phone! What can I say John loves to train and love to race, if your not sure how to swim a race for the first time you should hope you end up in a lane next to John, 11 years old but swims as even a race as any high school swimmer I’ve seen! Great work John STAGS should be lots of fun. – Coach Chuck
