Nitro Swimmer of the Month for August 2014

Cedar Park

High School Training: Lance Babcock – Lance has trained very hard in the HST group and now he’s reaping the benefits.  He recently tried out for Round Rock High School’s 22 member team and made the cut!  Lance will be focusing on his high school team this fall, but we’ve really enjoyed his hard work in the group and will certainly miss him at the pool.  Fantastic work, Lance! – Coach Alex

TAGS 2: Kaylie Pasquino – Kaylie had a really good month of training with our group, really using the off season to improve on some necessary skills such as underwaters. She pushed herself every day a little further and made some real progress. Kaylie has moved to the senior group now and will take those skills with her and continue to improve and lead the Senior group. Very proud of Kaylie and all that she has accomplished. – Coach Flo

Senior: Lauren Jones – Lauren has been working really hard on some of her weaker strokes this past month. She has had the best attendance this last month and has been a great leader in dryland. Keep up the great work!! – Coach Jeremy

National Development:The Group – We want to recognize the entire group and how we had awesome attendance during August when it’s vacation season. It’s very easy to not practice in August because you have vacations, a brief time off, and it being before school starts, but we are proud of you all for committing to your technique and to each other. This is going to help you get a positive step forward for the short course season. Great job and keep up the great attitudes and team atmosphere! – Coach Robert

Bee Cave

High School & Middle School Training:Alyssa Curry – Alyssa has done a really great job this month. She had taken a little break midsummer, but when she got back she jumped right into things.  I really loves the effort that she put forth for every practice, even when we had a challenging set! She also did a really nice job if making sure she was putting coaches feedback into her practices by making sure her strokes and mechanics where correct. Great job this month Alyssa! Keep working hard!! – Coach Meghan

TAGS: Andrew Osorio – Andrew continues to improve his training day after day.  He has become a leader of the group and is always pushing his limits.  Andrew had a strong long course season and is setting himself up for a great short course season.  We are really looking forward to seeing what he can do.  Keep up the great work Andrew! – Coach Scott

Senior:Alicia White – Alicia had fantastic summer training wise in the pool. It has been a joy to see her confidence grow over the past couple weeks. She really stepped it up this past Friday with our grueling 32 x 100’s, keeping up with a ND and NG Swimmers who dropped in on a Friday practice. Keep the ball rolling, don’t look back now. Nice job this month Alicia, short course is going to be great. – Coach Adrian

National Development: Lauren Quincy – Lauren did a great job focusing on technique this month.  She also committed herself to working on her breaststroke so that she can improve her IM events. Keep up the good work! – Coach Jason

National Group Swimmer of August: Nitro US Nationals Team – We wish to recognize all the individuals who represented Nitro in an unbelievable way at USA Swimming Nationals in Irvine, CA August 6-10. Regan Barney, Karling Hemstreet, Taylor Abbott, Matt Ellis, Sean Grieshop, Cole Hurwitz, Tate Jackson, Will Licon, Mason Tenney, and Zach Thomas, were the squad who swam their hearts out at Nationals. All of them except the three college guys did 2 weeks out there non-stop competing and all did extremely well for 14 days. We are so proud of the way they fought and represented Nitro for two weeks. We are also really proud of Matt, Cole and Will representing Nitro and continuing to be a part of the Nitro family. They were great interacting and leading, whether it was Cole telling jokes, Will and his GoPro Camera, or Matt and his race advice. It was a pleasure watching all of them be one team and compete as a team at the biggest meet of the summer nationally and for a few to qualify to compete internationally as well! Way to Go Nitro at US Nationals and now setting sites on Seattle and Omaha! – Coach Tim & Rob
