Nitro Swim Team | Swimmer of the Week for May 21st – 26th, 2012

Swimmer of the Week for May 21st – 26th:

Intro to Nitro

Cedar Park:Trey Petty– Trey has been working hard on doing his flip turns for some time now with not much luck, until Thursday.  Right from the get go on Thursday Trey pushed off the wall did four freestyle arms and one flip without a single hesitation.  He continued to do this pattern the rest of the practice with a big smile on his face.  Mastering the flip turn is a big milestone for any new/beginning swimmer and when things finally click it is quite exciting to see that hard work pay off!  Trey keep up the great work!

Bee Cave:Shreya Ramanathan– This last week the Intros have been working on their Breaststroke skills. More specifically on their timing. In both Butterfly and Breaststroke the difference between a good stroke and a better one is all in the timing and getting all the movements moving and working together. Which is why those strokes are typically the hardest to master for new swimmers. Shreya is one, of many, who has been struggling with this issue. Though I am proud to say not any longer. Shreya had an excellent week last week where she really focused on listening to what her coaches were saying and executing it perfectly. And because of this, her breaststroke has improved tremendously in just two practices. Shreya is a great example of a swimmer giving themselves a goal (making the Bronze Team) and using each and every practice as an opportunity to achieve that goal. Congratulations Shreya, You did it!

Bronze

Cedar Park:Rebecca Isaac– This week we want to give Rebecca Isaac the props and recognition she deserves. Initially, when she moved to Bronze from Intro with a group of girls, Rebecca was timid. But in the short months since then, Rebecca has really found her footing and is blossoming into quite the competitor! She has grown as a swimmer tremendously, in large part because she works so consistently and diligently to master each skill we cover. Thanks for being so subtly fierce and steadily focused, Rebecca! Keep up the great work.

Bee Cave:Lena Hadjimani– Lena consistently brings her a-game to practice. She is focused, a hard worker and still manages to have a great deal of fun.  Lena comes to practice with a smile on her face and leaves the same way.

Technique and Fitness

Cedar Park:Nikki Harkare & Mason Priddy – These two swimmers are great additions to the T/F, and NITRO family.  They are really showing great strides, and we can notice their improvement.  Nikki really has her streamlines down, and Mason is showing a lot of effort with his flip turns.  Awesome job you two.  Thanks for being a part of NITRO, and we’ll see you at the pool.

Bee Cave:Jenny Wu– Jenny has been with us at Nitro for many months now. Since then she has developed to a very fine swimmer. She makes a great leader in her lane and always has a smile on her face. She has really improved her freestyle lately. Keep up the great work!

Silver

Cedar Park:Mary Pierce– Mary has done an outstanding job of swimming in the brief time she has joined our group. She listens to corrections and works extremely hard at fixing them to improve her swimming. Looking forward to seeing her swim in the upcoming meets. Great job Mary, keep up the hard work!

Bee Cave:Finn Henry– Finn is a newer addition to Silver and is fitting in exceptionally well.  Finn works very hard every day & wants to learn at each practice.  His drive & determination are very clear every day he shows up.  Keep up the great work Finn!

Advanced Silver

Cedar Park:Addie Armistead– She had a fantastic UT meet and has continued to train like an animal all week! Great job Addie!

Bee Cave:Bailey Hill– Bailey has really been putting it all together these last few weeks.  She has a great feel for the water and has been working really hard.  Bailey is a treat to coach listening well and easily taking stroke correction. Bailey is moving up to Gold soon and I’m very excited to see what she can accomplish as she progresses in the sport. Keep up the great work Bailey!

Gold

Cedar Park: Jack Mischnick– Jack really impressed in his workout habits this week and showed something that we have never seen before. Jack keep up the great work!

Bee Cave:Isabel Reyes– Izzy has been working incredibly hard lately and her hard work really paid off at the UT end of school splash.  Izzy is consistent in the water and at dryland, and she is reaping the great results. Izzy always wears a big smile and a positive attitude.  We are so proud of you Izzy, keep up the great work!
