Intro to Nitro

Cedar Park:Zachary Loper- Zachary always comes to practice willing to listen and eager to go fast! When we asked the swimmers to go as far as they could before taking a breath Zachary decided to go all the way across without taking a breath each time he had the chance. Keep up the great work Zachary!

Bee Cave:Suraj Ganeshan- Suraj has come a long way since he started with the Intro group. He has been working like a dog at every single practice and it shows. Suraj does an excellent job of listening to the instructions, he has a great attitude and he has a desire to learn. Keep up the great work!

Bronze

Cedar Park:Skyler Yue- Skyler is a pint sized dynamo, as one of the smaller kids in the pool, he is a constant surprise. Skyler excelled this week with the underwater fish kick sets. Not only did he perform the kicks correctly, but also repeatedly pushed off the walls underwater past the minimum requirement. Skyler continuously exceeds expectations.

Bee Cave:Bronze Group #4- #4 did a fantastic job on Tuesday and Thursday on listening, doing the drills correctly, reading the clock and giving me their all! Keep up the high levels of effort!

Technique and Fitness

Cedar Park:Adriana and Vince Guerra - Sister and brother are a great match to our NITRO family. They have recently been added to our technique and fitness group and have proven to be quite the asset. They have great attitudes and a willingness to ask questions, demonstrate and improve their skills in the pool. Great job by the way on their fish kicking. Nice job you two thanks for being a part of NITRO and we’ll see you at the pool.

Bee Cave:Emma Proulx- Emma is a great person to work with. Every week she gives 100% to what we are working on. With her hard work and dedication to getting better, she has improved immensely. She has challenged herself to get better every day and still have great attitude about swimming. Keep up the great work Emma. I am so proud of you!

Silver

Cedar Park:Jakob Zapata- Jakob has been consistent in putting forth great effort and paying attention to the detail of the day for whatever we are working on. After each practice Jakob comes to ask his coach what he needs to work on which not only shows how much he cares about his technique, but is also immensely satisfying to hear as a coach.

Bee Cave:Thom Naccarato- Thom has done a great job working on his breaststroke, he held the length of the stroke and showed how hard he has been working his legs by the way he finished his 100 breaststroke at the UT meet this weekend, the freestyle and backstroke both had great pace and his focus on racing the heat pushed him to his best times yet! Thom has taken the first step towards the bigger picture, racing at meets starts with how you train every day at practice and racing your team mate in the lane right next to you can help with the pain, keep up the daily racing Thom!

Advanced Silver

Cedar Park:Brooke Newby - Works hard in practice, hit close to a personal best time on the test sets last week. She had a great weekend at the UT End of School Splash, winning several of her heats at the meet.

Bee Cave:Ashley Mayer- Ashley has been a boon to the group. She is a terrific leader, responds quickly to instruction and works her tail off. In addition to having a great week of practices she had the opportunity to take advantage of all the work we have been doing and really lit up the pool with some fantastic swims. Keep up the great work Ashley!

Gold

Cedar Park: Julia Roberto & Karen Yin- Julia and Karen had a great End of School Splash Meet, both girls got several TAGS cuts. Great swimming from both, it clearly shows that their hard work pays off. Looking forward to more great swimming from these two.

Bee Cave:Julia York- Sometimes you need to give your favorite events the weekend off and go exploring events that you never thought you could handle, well Julia did just that this weekend and she did it in the 400 IM. Sure she was nervous, there were a lot questions about breathing and pace, but it really came down to trust. Julia has worked so hard on all her strokes and I knew she was ready to swim that IM Long course, trust your training, she negative split the back, even split the breast, and came home 5 seconds faster on the free than she went out on the fly, along the way she found a new favorite event! Great swim Julia!

Intro to Nitro

Cedar Park:Lyen Poh- Lyen rocked last week’s workouts, finding the rhythm for her butterfly drills and stroke. She absorbs what she hears from her coaches and puts that to work right away in her swimming. Using the new drills for butterfly and backstroke Lyen and the rest of Intro really stepped to the plate. Looking forward to seeing how well we swim this week!

Bee Cave:Camryn Thigpeg- Cam has been doing an excellent job at all of our practices. She is always one of my best demonstrators, excited to learn, and hard working. Camryn did an awesome job at the swim meet using everything we have taught her to swim fast. Keep up the great work sweetie.

Bronze

Cedar Park:Richa Salunke- Richa for cheering on her teammates during the timed kicking trials this week!! Richa not only work hard on her own kicking during the set, she cheered her other teammates on to go faster and push themselves. Richa always show great enthusiasm with everything she does!!!

Bee Cave:Lucus Zha- Lucus has raised the standard in Bronze group with our underwater work. I asked the group to go past the flags underwater and he went half-way across the pool! I applauded his effort to the group and then I had about six swimmers doing it. Lucus is my swimmer of the week for going above and beyond what is expected! Did I mention that this was on their backs even? Wow!

Technique and Fitness

Cedar Park:Robin Smithson & Ashray Desai - Robin has been swimming with NITRO for a few years and is very consistent with her swimming. She always has excellent swims on Saturday mornings and brings great energy to the group. Ashrai has been with us for over a year as well. He has a great attitude and the other athletes really enjoy his company. They both have improved in their technique over the year. Great job you two thanks for being a part of NITRO and we’ll see you at the pool.

Bee Cave:Brenna Healy and Hardrock Garrett- Brenna and Hardrock both had a great week in the water. Brenna showed great work during butterfly drills. Not only did she have great technique during her drills but she listened to her coaches to improve on her strokes. Her hard work and great attitude proved to be a great swimmer this week. Hardrock is a truly a great person to work with. He always has questions to ask to get better and listens to his coaches to improve. This week Hardrock swam at Nitro at the Races and did very well. I am so proud of him. Keep up the work Brenna and Hardrock.

Silver

Cedar Park:Robby Graves & Reagan Price- In teaching the concept of fish kicking to the Silver swimmers this week, Robby picked it up quickly and served as a great example for his team mates as the week went on. Reagan picked up fish kicking quickly as well and has been consistently working hard at the details her coaches ask of her. Keep up the great work you two.

Bee Cave:Lauren Blossman- Lauren has been doing a very good job, she is very focused when I give her stroke correction, and has been working very hard on her streamline position and the underwater fly kicking, but the big breakthrough came on Saturday at the swim meet at Bee Cave with some intense swimming, great red zone finishes, and big smiles at the end of every race. Two big thumbs up here Lauren, way too go!

Advanced Silver

Cedar Park:Elly Rice- Elly has been working hard in both dry land and swim. She has shown great balance and strength in all of our exercises. She provided us with a great demonstration of a proper push up. She’s very deliberate and precise in her drill work and carries that into her swims.

Bee Cave:Hannah Mikaela Saquing- Hannah has always been a great swimmer to have in the group. She works hard and does a consistent job of encouraging her teammates. I want to applaud Hannah, this week especially, for being a fantastic leader in the Adv. Silver group. Her efforts help to elevate the swimming of those around her. Keep up the great work Hannah, you rock!

Gold

Cedar Park: Joseph Hunninghake- Joseph has done a great job this week focusing on the finer details of swimming including our Fish Kicks set we have started to incorporate into our training. Not only is he doing a great job with this when we train it he is using it in his full stroke swimming as well. Great job Joseph can’t wait to see how this impacts his 400 Free this weekend.

Bee Cave:Josh Bannon - Josh had a very good week, very focused, the training intensity was extremely high, and his mechanics were superior. With four of the group leaders moving up to the TAGS Group, Josh has become one of the first standouts, I love the way he has been pressing harder on the back half of the set and always seems to work his turns just a little bit farther off the wall when it hurts the most. He is doing a great job of challenging his pain barrier. Keep reaching for it Josh!

Intro to Nitro

Cedar Park:Andre De Arruda Quieroz- Andre sets the example for Intro #5 on the regular. He understood the new drills we practiced this week right away, able to demonstrate for the group. Andre is not afraid of asking questions to clarify and is always excited about the challenges! Great job Andre, looking forward to your next challenge.

Bee Cave:Alice Stockli- Alice is probably one of my friendliest and kindest kids in Intro. Upon seeing a new girl in her lane she promptly goes to introduce herself and goes on to explain and demonstrate what a ”Bob” is. That much kindness should be rewarded. Keep it up Alice!

Bronze

Cedar Park:All bronze swimmers who went to the AquaTex meet- It was a great meet, all the swimmers did amazing!

Bee Cave: Michael Cotton - Michael had a fabulous workout on Saturday! Every time I made a correction to technique, he fixed it immediately. I could see him trying to correct himself and think about what he was asked to do. Nothing puts a bigger smile on my face than being able to see swimmers give their all.

Technique and Fitness

Cedar Park:Madeline Early & Jake Goltzman - Madeline really had a great week. Her technique on her butterfly and backstroke looked great. Jake had a great meet last weekend. He had great energy and it really showed in the pool. Great job you two, thanks for being a part of NITRO and we’ll see you at the pool.

Bee Cave:Andrew Williams- Andrew has great attitude in and out of the water and is a pleasure to work with. His positive attitude in the water made him have a great week of swimming. This week Andrew’s constant attention and focus on butterfly drills really improved his stroke. Keep up the great work

Silver

Cedar Park:Ben Laughlin & Sadie Dickerson- Both Ben and Sadie swam at the Round Rock meet this past Saturday and swam very well. Ben had a great 50 freestyle swim and looked very strong in his butterfly, working on that stroke all week must have paid off! This was the first sanctioned meet for Sadie and she conducted herself extremely well both in and out of the pool.

Bee Cave:Logan Walker- The Silver group ranges in age from 7 to 12 and night after night I’ve watched this 8 year old do some great work, his freestyle is good, the backstroke has just the right intensity, he keeps improving the length of his breaststroke, but that butterfly is great! Smooth fast hands over the water, breathing placed at just the right time, and a kick that will surely win him several medals in the years to come. Keep up the great work Logan!!

Advanced Silver

Cedar Park:Max Vinnik - Max has been working hard and consistently leading the lane. Recently received HIGH POINT award at the Cinco de Mayo meet for the 9 year old boys.

Bee Cave:Ian Cullicott - I have come to expect a great deal from Ian when at practice. He pushes himself, is a good listener and frequently does a solid job of adjusting his strokes in accordance with the suggestions of the coaches. Last week, however, he really stepped up his game and strung together several great practices. He went above and beyond even his high standards. Keep up the great work Ian!

Gold

Cedar Park: Matthew McCarthy- Matthew has shown that he can be a great teammate to his fellow swimmers. Matthew counted his first 500 ever this past weekend, helping his teammate out through his own first 500 swim ever. Matthew thank you for being a good teammate and good example for the rest of the team!!

Bee Cave:Shannon Bagnal & Tas Saunders- These two ten year old swimmers put on quite a little show at the Cinco de Mayo meet this past weekend, both had to compete against older more experienced swimmers, both found themselves being disqualified in events they have competed in many times, and neither of them became upset, both had smiles on their faces, not because it was funny, not because it was unfair, they were there to compete and sometimes when you push too hard you see the officials hand up over your lane, they took it in stride and turned it into a learning experience! There were more swims to come and there was no time to cry about, they still had some best ever swims still to come, and by the end of the meet both were taking home the ten year old “High Point” trophies! Well done you two!!

Intro to Nitro

Cedar Park:All of the Intro to Nitro Nitro at the Races competitors- It was a very exciting Saturday for Intro, we had a lot of new swimmers attend the meet. Old and new swimmers a like, everyone did a great job on their swims, making friends and cheering for each other. Watching the swimmers from different practice times and groups interact is always fun to see. At this meet everyone seemed to really bond with one another, checking in to see how they did after their events, asking who is in the water to cheer for specific swimmers. So amazing to witness! Way to go Intro!

Bee Cave:Aaryan Sharma- Every week Aaryan, gets better and better. Each week he kicks a little harder, listens a little better and the drills we do are really starting to take effect. Keep up the great work!

Bronze

Cedar Park:All of the swimmers that participated in the Nitro at the Races in Cedar Park- The Bronze swimmers competed fiercely and did very well!!!. I am personally very proud of everyone that attended, you guys did AWESOME!! An honorable mention goes to Angel Caldera, whose goggle slipped off. Angel swam the 100 Freestyle with no goggles, did all his flip turns, and made a great time.!!

Bee Cave:Samuel Tan- Samuel had the best workout I have ever seen him have on Friday. I knew he was giving 110% by the way he was breathing hard on the walls and how red his face was. In addition to that he was doing the drills correctly, reading the clock and being a great listener. Keep up the great work!

Technique and Fitness

Cedar Park:Lycia Poh & Aaryan Sharma- Every time we ask for someone to demonstrate Lycia is the first to have her hand up. She really rocked the butterfly this past week. Aaryan has the attitude and demeanor to be a great addition to our team. He is always at the pool willing to jump in and show us he’s ready to improve. Great job you two thanks for being a part of NITRO and we’ll see you at the pool.

Bee Cave: Mitchell Fisher- Mitchell stringed together a very nice week in the pool. His constant focus on all the drills is making his strokes efficient. Mitchell really improved his dives this week as well. I am very proud of you Mitchell, keep up the great work.

Silver

Cedar Park:Catherine Stephens & Tanner Bray- Catherine is a relatively new addition to the Silver group at Cedar Park, but in the weeks she’s been there she has done an excellent job of paying attention to detail and improving her stroke technique. Tanner is a great young leader in the pool. He does a great job of taking stroke correction from his coaches to heart and never complains regardless of the days focus or difficulty. Keep it up the both of you!

Bee Cave:Matthew Villagomez- This last week Mathew has really stepped up his training, working very hard on his breaststroke he separated himself from the silver group and became a leader not only for the rest of Silver 2 but for all of the Silver Groups at BEE CAVE. It’s hard not to notice when you have other coaches pointing out the improvement and the fact that he has been holding eight strokes a length breaststroke. I can’t wait to see him compete in the long course pool.

Advanced Silver

Cedar Park:Mary Iliukevich & Adam Micek- Tons of excited energy on deck They both worked really hard in the pool and dry-land practices.

Bee Cave:Cal Minyen- Choosing Swimmer of the Week rarely has anything to do with comparing one swimmer’s speed or ability to that of another. In swimming, we frequently get caught up in the meets. What place did I get? Who broke a record? Or how did the team place? It is easy to forget how much we compete with ourselves. This competition is not meant for the meets alone but is a challenge for every swimmer, for every practice. Will I make myself better today? Will I be a better swimmer, a better trainer, than I was yesterday? Cal Minyen answered those questions with a resounding yes this past week. And for that, he is the Swimmer of the Week for Adv. Silver. Keep up the great work Cal!

Gold

Cedar Park: William Corona- William just started with the group several weeks ago but he has one of those extremely competitive attitudes, I notice he is constantly working to correct his strokes and asking questions. But it goes well beyond that William is always finding ways to do extra work, coming in early during dry-land and starting with High School Training group which starts about 10 minutes before his regularly scheduled dry-land. William is working hard and it will pay off in the long run. Keep up the hard work!!!

Bee Cave:Tas Saunders- Quietly Tas has been chewing up the yards with great focus on his turns and stroke technique, I’ve never seen him get out of a set or therefore a practice for any reason, he always knows what the set is, the interval and his own send off, what the focus of the set will be, and does his very best regardless of any possible distractions. His work on the IM this week was outstanding.

Swimmer of the Month for April 2013:

Cedar Park

High School Training:Levi Michael and Cypher Miller- These boys have been working hard in the water and at our first long course meet of the season they finally got to see the rewards! This meet was the first official meet for Cypher as well as his first long course meet EVER! For Levi it was the first long course meet in years. They swam like veteran swimmers and shocked some of their teammates with their times! It is exciting to see hard work pay off for you in such a big way, and it’s only the beginning! Looking forward to seeing how Levi and Cypher do at their next meet! Keep up the great work boys!

TAGS 2: Addy Armistead- Addy has an amazing first Long Course meet after missing several TAGS cuts during short course meet, the very first event of Long Course she swam not only made the 11-12 TAGS cut, not only made 13-14 TAGS cut, but it was also a Sectional hard cut. She capped the rest of the meet of with two more TAGS cuts in the 200 IM and 100 Back. Very good start to the season Addy keep it up.

TAGS 1:Summer Fullwood- Summer is a good consistent trainer and always has a smile on her face.

Senior:Grey Player and Nick Shomper- Both of them have really stepped up their efforts in practices on a daily basis. They have been placing themselves in the faster lanes, trying to lead their lanes, and challenging themselves to get better. I am looking forward to the next long course meet and watching those efforts pay off. Great job guys!

Sectional:Brandon Daniels – Brandon recently joined the Sectional Group and he has certainly made a big impact. He immediately showed that he is ready to train hard and set a tone that has resonated through many teammates. Brandon is not afraid to challenge himself on difficult sets, no matter what the workout entails. He is a very valuable and important part of the Sectional Group and we certainly welcome him aboard. Nice job, Brandon!

Bee Cave

High School Training:

TAGS: Kendall Shields- Since arriving to Nitro, Kendall has raised the bar on the training for the entire group. She has also added a new level of Team Spirit, always speaking positively during the tough sets, keeping her teammates reaching for greater heights! Way to go Kendall!

Senior: Jack Cornish- Jack is on fire for the start of long course season. All of his hard work he put in short course is definitely transitioning to our new season. Jack has really focused on the little things in practice (streamlines, under waters, drill sets, etc). In Jack’s first meet of the long course season, he attained his first sectional hard cut in the 200 BK and a bonus cut in the 100 BK. The work definitely did not stop there, he swam a lights out 400IM to cap off the meet. Keep up the great work and congratulations Jack.

Sectional: Chris Mayer- Chris has been on a steady incline since he arrived earlier in the short course season. As a direct result of Chris making his teammates around him better with a fantastic attitude and a willingness to “put it on the line” each practice, Chris saw his first Sectional time achieved at the most recent UT meet. Congrats!

Intro to Nitro

Cedar Park: Edward Bomba, Daniel Chen and Isabella Kerstetter – These three swimmers are the go to demonstrators for their group. They listen carefully and are ready to set the bar for the practice. This past Saturday the three showed their skills to the group with awesome underwater pullouts and great breaststroke kicks. After seeing them strut their stuff the rest of Intro #7 followed suit! It is exciting to see how quickly the swimmers can learn from their peers! Way to go guys!!

Bee Cave: Luis Gomez – Luis has done an awesome job the last couple weeks. Something has really set a fire under him, because he is listening better, working harder, and thinking about what the drills are trying to teach him. Because of these three things he has improved tremendously! Keep up the great work!

Bronze

Cedar Park: Shea Wiedenmeyer – Shea recently moved to Bronze from Intro. Shea had the first week jitters and very soon after showed her determination to keep up with the older bronze swimmers. Each week she has gotten just a bit faster, and by the third week has made sure she is making the intervals and keeping up with her lane. Shea has amazing will power, keep it up!!!

Bee Cave: Sara Pacheco – Always has a smile on her face…even when she is working hard and following directions. She listens and executes the drills to perfection routinely. When given feedback, she immediately makes the corrections and is ready for the next challenge!

Technique and Fitness

Cedar Park: Sammie Young & Jeffrey Barnett – Sammie is new to our T/F group, having swum only a couple of times. Yet she already is leading her lane, watching the clocks, and paying close attention. Her swimming is strong as well. Jeffrey always comes to practice with an incredible attitude. Smiling and doing everything we ask of him. Great job you two thanks for being a part of NITRO and we’ll see you at the pool.

Bee Cave: Mila Webb – Mila did a tremendous job this week in the pool. She has made some drastic improvements in the pool the last few months. Mila really focused on her technique in the pool. The coaches are really starting to notice her recent progress. We are very proud of you Mila! Keep up the great work!

Silver

Cedar Park: Madeleine Nguyen & Javan Taylor – Madeleine has demonstrated amazing focus in learning new drills and concentrating on the little things important to developing great stroke technique for several weeks now. Her attention to detail and generally kind disposition make her a joy to have in the water. Javan always loves to swim fast, but along with his work ethic and increased attention to stroke technique he has shown tremendous improvement in reading the pace clock when leading his lane during workouts.

Bee Cave: Bailey Liverman – Bailey has done a great job working on little things all week, neutral head position on her breaststroke, 3-2-1 timing on her pullouts, plus streamlines, and at the UT meet this weekend her start and pullout on the 50 breaststroke was fantastic, out past the fruit loops about two body lengths farther than the rest of the heat. Great Stuff! Keep working on those little things and the big rewards will come Bailey!

Advanced Silver

Cedar Park: The swimmers who participated in the LC kickoff this weekend – All swimmers of the Advanced Silver group, looked great in our drills at practice this week. But the swimmers at the LC kickoff brought their technique to the swim meet. Very impressed with the number of B, BB and A cuts we got this weekend. Can’t wait to see the success in our May swim meets.

Bee Cave: Reo Oba – Reo has really been doing a solid job in Adv. Silver. He consistently demonstrates how much he wants to be here by his actions. He puts in the effort, day in and day out, and is very deliberate in his actions. He frequently asks follow-up questions to make certain that he has the drill right or that he understood the intervals. He is a great swimmer to coach because he listens and makes a real effort to take advantage of any stroke corrections the coaches give him. Keep up the good work Reo!

Gold

Cedar Park: Anna Kate Benwell – Anna Kate had a rocking first Long Course Meet, she has been working hard all of short course season but not quite getting to her goals of making some 11-12 TAGS cuts. First Long Course season meet of the year and she surprises everyone with 2 TAGS cuts in the 100 and 200 Breast and barely missing the 50 Breast by .01. Congrats Anna Kate your hard work is paying off.

Bee Cave: Olivia Mazzei – It’s been a week of hard work for Olivia, being in Gold only a few weeks, the transition has taken a toll, but she smiles, listens, and faces every challenge strong determination. Her strong daily focus could be seen on Sunday while other swimmers were starting to fade Olivia had three personal best times, just missing two National AAAA times in the 50 & 100 butterfly and finished the meet with a very strong showing in her 100 back lowering her best time by 6 seconds. That’s what I call having fun in the pool!

Thanks for being a part of Nitro! See you at the pool! Coach Mike.

Intro to Nitro

Cedar Park:Morgan Vopat - Morgan has come to practices lately with an extra pep in her step. She is eager to get in the water and go go go! The extra burst of energy has also given Morgan a chance to enhance her swimming skills in the water; underwaters are going farther, kicks are smaller and faster and side breathing is smaller and faster as well. Morgan it is very exciting to see all the improvements and energy in and out of the water, Keep Up the Great Work!

Bee Cave:Ally Zhou- Ally is my swimmer that always has a question and always wants to be doing the drill exactly right. She is a hard worker with a constant smile on her face. She is improving quickly and I am excited to see how fast she gets. Keep up the great work!

Bronze

Cedar Park:Bao Tran- Bao has the determination to be a good swimmer, he moved up to Bronze in the middle of the season from TF with Coach Steve, and continues to make the changes that allow him to excel with the Bronze group. He has made goals, and is on track to make them happen! Way to go Bao!!!!

Bee Cave:Bridget Wu- Bridget always comes to practice with a positive attitude and ready to learn. She is a great listener and tries her best to master each and every skill that I teach them. I frequently use her as an example for the group and know that she is someone I can depend on to be a role model.

Technique and Fitness

Cedar Park:Hannah Anthony and Andrew Huynh - Every practice Hannah wants to demonstrate for the group. She is always willing to help out and always with enthusiasm and a smile on her face. Andrew has been swimming with us for a while, and his great attitude has never wavered. We feel that he WANTS to be here and it shows in his swimming. Great job you two thanks for being a part of NITRO and we’ll see you at the pool.

Bee Cave:Brenna Healy- Brenna did a very nice job this week in the pool. She really attacked our IM focus sets. Her constant dedication to streamlines has her strokes falling together nicely. Keep up the great work Brenna!

Silver

Cedar Park:Quin Collins & Ana Herceg- Quin has shown himself to be a great listener and even better team mate. Despite all the work on his least favorite stroke this past week he led his lane each day and helped his team mates keep track of the sets and intervals. Ana just recently moved up from Bronze and has been a standout during aerobic sets and continues to work on improving her stroke technique. Keep up the great work you two.

Bee Cave:Emily Seghers- Emily has really separated herself from the Silver Group, watching her length of stroke on freestyle, the low breathing on butterfly, how she presses the top of her breaststroke, it makes me feel like I’m watching a swimmer at my Gold Group workout, not a 10 year old from Silver 2! So far she has risen to every challenge put in front of her and I can’t wait to see her swim her first Long course meet this spring.

Advanced Silver

Cedar Park:Samir Anwar - Last week we had a new swimmer come to one of our practices. While answering questions, Samir began to explain the drill, so the new swimmer could understand what we were doing. I finished answering questions from the group, and began to tell the new swimmer the drill….he told me, “Samir already explained it”

Bee Cave:Charlize Hallett- Charlie asked me a couple of weeks ago what it takes to be Swimmer of the Week. We talked about some of the things it takes and areas in which she could improve. In a week where we had a chance to work on our drills and go toe-to-toe with a few IM sets Charlie distinguished herself by: 1. Staying in the water and getting the most of of each practice. 2. Showing the results of a constant mental effort to stay focused even while working to increase her speed. 3. Listening and showing respect to the coaches, her teammates and her own efforts in the pool. In short, while maintaining her quintessential charm and energy, Charlie managed to show me that she gets what we are about here. At age 9 she is demonstrating her maturity and growth in the sport and it is a wonderful thing to see. Keep up the great work Charlie!

Gold

Cedar Park: Lucy Emmerson & Rachel Jacops- Lucy and Rachel have been doing a great job this past week trying hard to work on their overall speed in the water, constantly asking questions about what they can do better and asking to be timed on almost every other swim they are doing. Very encouraging to see their dedication to this sport. I look forward to seeing them swim the first meet of the season this weekend.

Bee Cave:Julia York- Since we have started swimming longcourse on Fridays as well as Saturdays Julia has been putting on a nice show of why she has some of the best mechanics in the group, while everyone else has some trouble holding their strokes together through the longer pool, Julia just keeps pressing the pace of the stroke, she looks very at home since we’ve removed that peskie wall every 25 yards, as a matter of fact I think she preferres it that way. I can’t wait to see her attack a 200 breaststroke!
